A "castell" is a human tower of several floors of height that one comes constructing traditionally in Tarragon's Field, for more than two hundred years (they find references from the 18th century), and that later was spreading towards the Penedès and, during the 20th century for the whole Catalonia, Roselló, and the Illes Balears, specially from the eighties, which does that it is narrowly linked to the popular holidays. A "casteller" is a person who forms a part of one " colla castellera " to organize "castells" (castel in English). On November 16, 2010, the "castells" were declared Cultural Immaterial Humanity Heritage by the UNESCO.

Un castell es una torre humana de varios pisos de altura que se viene construyendo tradicionalmente en el Campo de Tarragon, desde hace más de doscientos años (se encuentran referencias desde el siglo XVIII), y que después se fue extendiendo hacia el Penedès y, durante el siglo XX por toda Catalunya, Roselló, y las Illes Balears, especialmente a partir de los años ochenta, lo que hace que esté estrechamente vinculado a las fiestas populares. Un casteller es una persona que forma parte de una "colla castellera" para organizar "castells" (en castellano castillos). El 16 de noviembre de 2010, los "castells" fueron declarados Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial de la Humanidad por la Unesco.
