Arts & Medicine: The Story Of Some Portraits

When art meets medicine, healing takes a whole new form. Art, in all its subtleties and nuances, is therapeutic in a unique way.

On February 1st, the ‘Arts and Medicine’ initiative of the Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF) was inaugurated at the Ernakulam General Hospital. The project, implemented in association with Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi and the district administration, aims at providing solace to the patients and their relatives through arts and music.

Many artists and musicians have been a part of this project. In February, we visited the hospital when artist Daniel Connell was working with the patients. There, we got to see and feel how art sparked new conversations, lightened the emotions, unveiled untold stories and spread happy thoughts.

With Daniel, we decided to document these joyful and creative moments and this video is a result of over three weeks spent in the hospital, with the patients, their families, doctors and other staff.
