5 Garda arrive on the scene and say they threw John a rope and then watched him go under.
John Kelly was calling out for help from the Canal at Dublin Docklands after he was beaten and robbed.
John’s phone, bracelet, money and brand new runners he bought that day, all missing.
John’s clothes were destroyed by the coroner office because they were badly soiled with blood.
John phone rang out early the next day and was later turned off.
There was several calls into the Garda on the night, 3 stations were alerted that night.
Pearse St Station said to a caller it wasn’t their jurisdiction to call Irish Town station, Irish town station said it wasn’t their jurisdiction call Pearse St station, while John Kelly’s cries to be saved went unattended.
The residents from the apartments, who phoned the Garda for help that night, were told when being interviewed that John had committed suicide and that some people just don’t want help.
After the 5 Garda watched John die, it was then that water rescue services were called.
Garda advised our family to have a closed coffin, our mother request the coffin to be opened in the funeral home, it was there she seen bruising to john’s face, scraped knuckles and dry blood in his ears.
We were told by the Garda there was no marks on John’s body.
Post Mortem states there was extensive marks to John neck and swelling to the brain.
Garda ignored our family’s concerns, so we hired a private detective to investigate.
We call on the Irish Government to open a full investigation into John’s Death.
