For a Better World : The world as we see it (or as you should see it)
Freedom, for a better world, activism, better world

The Capitalist economy and its social theoretical reasoning brought many positive aspects to the development of modern society. Unfortunately the later stages of development have been marked by excess and major distortions. Excessive greed, neglect and exploitation within the political arena have become the norm, creating the roots for wars, corruption, the exploitation of humans rights.

For a Better World community aims at addressing capitalism distortions and dysfunctions that are degrading human dignity and the environment, leading many species to a point of no return. FBW sees the urgency to address these issues as the welfare of human race will very soon be at stake.

Capitalism and the law of profit maximization

The search for maximum profit as preached by the capitalist system has no limit, but unfortunately, the earth resources do. This creates an intrinsic contradiction.

The capitalist requisite for the incessant increase of financial returns stimulates greed. Consequently, the destruction of the environment is seen by many as permissible, as long as profits are assured. Greed, neglect and exploitation have become an acceptable attitude. Indirectly, these issues are the roots of war, corruption, environment destruction and of exploitation of humans by humans.

Modern technology improved the way we live in many ways. Unfortunately it is now being used to control people (through the media, internet, etc), and to allow large scale exploitation technologies  (such as modern fishing boats, mining, drilling and deforestation machines) to destroy the environment.

Who controls the capitalist system?

Executives of major multinationals, banks, shareholders and large financial markets investors fashioned the capitalist system we live in today. Among them there is a very small group of narrow-minded people whose focus is on how to generate profit and easy gains.

Side effects

This small, powerful group of people lobbies governments to vote favorable laws to increase their profits.

Their corruption practices are widespread.  Under their guidance, greedy politicians vote laws recklessly damaging the environment and often harming the citizens’ interests, which are the interests that they should be representing.

Many large companies bribe foreign governments in developing countries in orders to foster their dirty business. The price again is destruction of natural resources, corruption and human rights violations.

How does this small group of people controls the capitalist system?

They control key positions in the government and own media companies that promote their view: be greedy, neglect and exploit thy neighbor. They control companies and promote consumerism without limits.

As owners of the capital, they provide jobs. Workers ought to have the same mindset. The majority of the population thought that consumerism is happiness. They have realized that it is not.

What is the whole of politics?

Politics have become a means of exercising power and self-enrichment through corruption. This is even more prominent in countries where democratic institutions are not strong and public administration and finances are opaque.  Working under the guidance of corporations or for their own sake, elected politicians often vote in laws that help to increase their future financial gains in contradiction to the elector’s interest. They become very creative in embezzling public money for the sake of their own greed.

How do we start building a better society?

-Protect the environment

-Support good politicians

-Watch out for wrongdoings by the government and large companies

-Respect Human Rights

-Reduce corruption

-Change the way we live and consume resources
