The Grip: Saving Our Country One County at a Time (2026)

Directed by Scott Wisenbaker

The Grip shows what’s possible when recovery, accountability, and opportunity are combined inside our jail systems.

This film was created to demonstrate that addiction and recidivism can be addressed in a meaningful, measurable way when people are equipped with the tools they actually need to stay free, sober, and productive after release. Through entrepreneurship training, emotional intelligence, mentorship, and real-world reentry preparation, participants are given a pathway toward long-term success instead of a revolving door back into the system.

For decades, counties and elected officials have continued funding approaches that produce high costs, overcrowded facilities, repeat incarceration, and little lasting change. Even with proven outcomes, many remain hesitant to invest in innovative programs that challenge the status quo.

The Grip asks a simple but important question: What happens when we stop managing the problem and start creating solutions?

This film is more than a documentary. It is a call to rethink reentry, recovery, and rehabilitation — and to recognize that meaningful change is possible when people are given purpose, structure, and opportunity.
