Pemón (Short Documentary) [BFI Doc Society]

A spotlight on indigenous Pemón Chief Juvencio Gómez and his family who have migrated to Brazil from their ancestral homelands in Venezuela as a result of the deadly 'Pemón conflict', resulting from invasive mining projects which have fractured their indigenous way of life. This hybrid live action-animation portrait uniquely reflects the stories of the Venezuelan Kumarakapay people and their rapidly changing culture. Filming was recorded and presented entirely in the indigenous Pemón language of Taurepang.
