Mr. Happy Man

Meet Mr. Happy Man: 88-year-old Bermudian Johnny Barnes devotes six hours every day to an endearing traffic ritual that has made him one of the island’s most cherished citizens. Come rain or shine, he’s there. He stands and blows kisses. This story will make you smile. Every city has their characters. Usually these are homeless individuals who think of creative and quirky ways to make a buck.  These little moments make the day go round. He puts smiles on people’s faces. We don’t often slow down and ask these people why they do the things they do.  Johnny feels that his mom never told him that she loved him. He doesn’t want that to happen to anyone else. He wants everyone to feel love. So he stands. And he waves. And the town loves him.
