Ayahuasca: The Sacred Vine

Deep in the heart of the Amazon rainforest grows a sacred vine known for its magical powers, the vine is known as Ayahuasca, a Quechua word that means ‘rope of death’. Those who consume this vine of the soul are bestowed with the ability to commune with spirits, diagnose illness, treat disease, and even predict the future.

Ayahuasca has been used for thousand of years as a tradition of healing people in the Peruvian rainforest. The vine, once given to the shaman, becomes an entrance into a mystical realm where the plant spirits & visions of the jungle reveal to him how to heal, diagnose and council others.

To understand the Ayahuasca, first you need to know the jungle and its mystery. The Peruvian jungle is a magical world of myths and legends; full of sounds, smells, wild animals, with the Amazon plants, rivers and spirits that will take you to another dimension. It has been said that instead of providing complex answers, the Ayahuasca respects the great mysteries of life and makes them more fertile, it is, in reality, a powerful hallucination that is used to heal in the Peruvian jungle.

We went to different places in the Peruvian Amazon and heard different opinions from healers and patients, each one with his own perspective of the Ayahuasca. This documentary will take you to a parallel world.
