Why I Don't Think We Should Waste Our Time Making Anti-Trump Content | F.D Signifier

America worships power, and that’s exactly why Trump is back in office. We all saw it coming. The man is a felon, a fraud, a scammer—his supporters know it, and they love him for it. What’s the point of giving the latest examples, F.D Signifier argues, they don’t care.

Trump’s whole brand is looking powerful, no matter how ridiculous he actually is. It’s the same playbook used by Musk, Kanye, or Jordan Peterson—cultivate a fanbase that sees themselves in your power, and they’ll ride for you no matter what. But here’s the thing: this time around, the outrage cycle isn’t hitting the same. And that might actually be a good thing.

Instead of feeding the machine, it’s time to do the real work—local organizing, political education, building something real. That’s where the energy needs to go. Trump gonna Trump. The media will continue to do what it does. But we don’t have to play the game.

F.D Signifier suggests we focus on:

  • Building community – Connect with people in your community, start group chats, and build networks of support.
  • Political education – Promote information that explains the systems at play rather than just reactions to headlines. Knowledge of the problems and knowledge of how to solve those problems are also two sets of information, and the former doesn't necessarily confer the latter. We can keep each other informed without dwelling on what was clear 8 years ago.
  • Organizing – Supporting grassroots efforts, whether through direct involvement, donations, or resource coordination.
  • Avoiding the outrage cycle – Recognize that attention fuels Trump’s brand and right-wing media strategy, so starving them of that energy can be more effective.
  • Focus on real action – Instead of doomscrolling or venting online, put your attention towards tangible efforts that help people survive and resist harmful policies.

His main takeaway: Complaining about Trump won’t change his supporters' minds, but shifting focus to meaningful action can make a difference.
