The Sacred Science (2011) (trailer)

“The Sacred Science” follows eight people from all different walks of life, with varying physical and psychological ailments, as they embark on a one-month healing journey into the heart of the Amazon jungle.  Working with a handful of local Shamanic healers and using a combination of plant medicine and intense spiritual exercises, the barriers between physical health and mental well-being are blurred and eventually eliminated altogether.

These eight people and those who share their experience through the film will also realize the importance of preserving these traditions, which are in grave danger of disappearing forever. A large portion of the synthetic medicines we know today were discovered in the Amazon rain forest, however less than 5% of Amazonian plants have been examined for their healing potential. With rampant deforestation, ecotourism and modernization of the indigenous populations, little stands in the way of these plants and the knowledge of their uses being completely wiped out. Thankfully, there are some that are taking action to preserve this fragile and endangered tradition. Join these brave souls as they embark on an amazing quest for transformation and self-discovery – and watch as the impact and depth of their experience exceeds the expectations of even the staunchest of skeptics.
