Living With The Land: A 9-Part Permaculture Series

A rich and imersive nine part series looking at all aspects of living with the land. Produced by Permaculture magazine and Permaculture People the films explore successful permaculture projects across a range of topics, such as large-scale, regenerative agriculture, forest gardening, urban permaculture and natural building.

Part 1 - Forest Gardening (5mins)

Martin Crawford, pioneering forest gardener, introduces us to his beautiful Forest Garden full of food, fibres and medicinal plants in South Devon. Centred around a key interview with Martin, the film uses drone shots for never seen before vantage points of his garden.

Part 2 - Natural Building (6mins)

Kevin McCloud, presenter of Channel 4's 'Grand Designs', introduces us to a world of beautiful, practical and natural buildings. From clay and cob, to straw bale and timber framing, learn how using natural and local materials is not only economical, but creates a unique home that is strong and durable.

Part 3 - Building Soil with Regenerative Agriculture (5mins)

Sitting on top the hills of southwest Devon overlooking the sea, Village Farm is a living example of regenerative agriculture.

Part 4 - Urban Permaculture: Permablitz (3mins)

Permaculture design can be applied to all aspects of our lives. Whether it is communities, farms, gardens or urban areas.

Part 5 - No-Dig Gardening (7mins)

Growing organic vegetables commercially for over 30 years, Charles Dowding has developed a no-dig method of cultivation for temperate climate gardening.

Part 6 - Animal-free Farming (5mins)

A pioneer in plant-based agriculture, Iain Tolhurst has been a practising organic vegetable producer since 1976.

Part 7 - Off-grid Living (7mins)

Pat Bowcock explains how she left her 9-5 lifestyle to live in tune with the land, creating her own five acre permaculture smallholding, that is her home, her work and her life.

Parts 8 - Transformation Through Learning (7mins)

Education is key to a more sustainable future but learning can be far more fun than just sitting in a classroom being spoon fed information. Rather than being passive, all of us, at whatever age, can become lifelong learners by doing. This is learning by immersion and it is transformative!

Part 9 - 21st Century Foraging (7mins)

Wild food experimentalist and passionate educator Fergus Drennan has been foraging for over 25 years. By following the traditions of foraging for wild foods, medicinals and building materials, we can reconnect with our landscapes, learning to live in tune with nature
