Your Friend Is Dying and You're Reading Poetry?

A story by Our Better World - telling stories of good to inspire action.

One person needed help. An entire community came forward.

Jocelyn Suarez was dying of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, a deadly rare disease that destroys the outer layer of one's skin. The Filipino nurse, performance poet and cosplayer was in a deep coma for weeks. Friends and strangers in Singapore, where she lives, rallied to help her and she witnessed the true power of a community.
