The Fight Of Their Lives (2020)

The Fight Of Their Lives documents the citizens fight against a Hazardous Waste Incinerator in Granville County, North Carolina in 1990. But it was more than just a single county's fight, it was a statewide fight that garnered national attention. It shows the many faces involved and the seemingly unrelenting obstacles that were thrown in the path of justice. It's a story that joined republicans, democrats and independents hand in hand, neighbors and strangers, doctors, farmers, homemakers and others fighting to protect their land, water and air. It was a diverse group, comprised of several county, state and national organizations. In the end, the lessons are: 1. Never give up. 2. Work together. 3. You can fight city hall – and win!

Much of the video was shot by volunteers or recorded at home. Tapes were found in dusty car trunks or pulled from cardboard boxes and closets, and digitized from analog sources over a period of several years. Here, out of more than three hundred hours of tape, is the story as it appeared (as aired) by television stations across the state.
