"Socialism Always Fails": A Dishonest Claim (3 Times It Worked)

"Socialism Always Fails" is a claim I hear frequently. More often than not, when someone deploys this quip, it's meant to end any further conversation about socialism so they don't have to contend with some hard facts. Instead of asking "Does socialism fail?", we should ask "Does socialism fail due to a flaw in its design? Or due to imperialism?

In this video, I address the failings of old communist states and explain why I believe them to be state capitalist, not socialist. I also highlight 3 socialist experiments that I deem successful. I started by sharing the story of Thomas Sankara who improved Burkina Faso, then moved to Jacobo Arbenz of Guatemala, and ended with Salvador Allende of Chile. A common theme is that America, and more specifically the CIA, did not take kindly to socialists, even if they were democratically elected. I hope you learn some Latin American history from this video. - overzealots
