Selected Scenes from Cry Freedom

Cry Freedom is a 1987 feature film directed by Richard Attenborough, set in apartheid-era South Africa it chronicles the life and death of black freedom fighter Steve Biko (born 18 Dec 1946) and his friendship with white newspaper editor Donald Woods. These are a few selected clips from the film:

Part 1: A short yet potent speech by Steven Biko (played by Denzel Washington) at a football match.

Part 2: Biko delivers a damning indictment of the apartheid regime from the dock. 

Part 3: Documenting Steve Biko's funeral, which took place on 25 September 1977 and drew a crowd of thousands.
