Success, Culture & Race | Coleman Hughes

Coleman Cruz Hughes writes on the topic of race for Quillette and the New York Times. Despite still being an undergraduate, studying philosophy at Colombia University, his articles have sparked polarised reactions, leading to a meteoric rise in profile over the last couple of years. On Tuesday 18th June, he gave evidence at the US congressional hearing about reparations for the legacy of slavery.

In this discussion with Rebel Wisdom's David Fuller, he explains what he makes of this newfound fame, and how much responsibility does he feel to use his words carefully on this explosive topic in America.

[Editor's note: Films For Action sees value in sharing and engaging with a diversity of perspectives (within reason). By sharing something on this site, it doesn't necessarily mean we agree with every point in the content.  To avoid self-made bubbles and blind spots, we actively engage with ideas that may challenge our existing views, and this interview is a good example of that. We believe this is an essential part of a well-rounded critical thinking skill-set.

Philosophically, we support the Heterodox Academy's commitment to Open Inquiry, Viewpoint Diversity, and Constructive Disagreement. This means everyone will occasionally disagree with the things we share (including, to some extent, ourselves), but we hope our supporters will find value in this approach more than not.]
