You Are All That Is. This is not metaphor, but literal, scientific fact. It might sound crazy, but this realisation has been the cornerstone of indigenous spiritualities for tens of thousands of years. It is the radical promise of salvation echoed by enlightened masters, mystics, sages, and gurus throughout modern civilisation. It is the realisation of the ever-growing number of individuals contributing to the shift in human consciousness taking place in our world today. But most significantly, it is the truth that is today being confirmed by modern science.
Einstein himself said: “A human being is part of the whole, called by us ‘Universe’; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest—a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison.” What an incredibly profound statement this is. As a man of reason, a man of logic, a man of science, Einstein’s deep scientific investigation into the fabric of the cosmos revealed to him that you are not separate from any other part of creation. You Are creation! You Are existence, in its entirety. You Are inextricably one with the whole of the cosmos. The realisation then that You Are All That Is, is the realisation that You Are literally Infinite, You Are literally Eternal, You Are literally God. And more importantly, that You Are literally Me! This is the New Story of Cosmology. And this changes everything.
So what exactly does it mean to say You Are Infinite, You Are Eternal, You Are God. And more importantly You Are Me?
You Are Infinite
You are one with all that is. You are everyplace and everywhere. There is nowhere in the unimaginable vastness of the cosmos (or beyond the cosmos) that you are not.
Science now tells me, that travelling at the speed of light (seven and a half times around the earth per second) it would take me nearly four hours to reach the edge of our solar system, more than four years to reach our nearest neighbour star, an extraordinary 2.4 million years to reach our nearest neighbour galaxy, and an incomprehensible 46 billion years to reach the edge of the known universe! But the known universe is only as big as we can see, and scientists know that it is much, much bigger still – that in all likelihood, the universe is quite literally infinite. Added to this, scientists now seriously suspect that our own infinite universe is just one of an infinite number of other universes!
But as mind-boggling as this is, what is truly enlightening is the fact that modern science now tells us that the entirety of this extraordinary expanse of time and space is One interconnected and interrelated Whole. That no ‘piece’ of creation is separate in any way from any other ‘piece’ – including the ‘piece’ that is ‘you’. Here is just a snippet of that science:
- Quantum Entanglement tells us that every speck of matter that exists in the hundreds of billions of galaxies, each with hundreds of billions of stars, is entangled with each and every other speck of matter. So any particle within the universe can have an instantaneous effect on another anywhere else in the universe!
- String Theory tells us that every speck of matter that exists in the entire universe is actually made of a single field of interconnected strings of pure energy. This field is “fabric of spacetime.”
- High school physics tells us that every speck of matter that exists in the entire universe continues to be recycled and to flow throughout the entire universe. The atoms and molecules of your body, along with the rest of the surface of the earth is being continually recycled at a rate such that 98% of what is in ‘your’ body right now was not there one year ago and will not be there one year from now. As such ‘your’ body is not your body – it is The Body!
- Noetics and research into psychic anomalies tells us that all minds are connected. That in fact there is only One Mind – One Consciousness – that each individual mind taps into to create ‘your’ consciousness.
- New theories in physics tell us that rather than consciousness somehow arising out of form (matter), it is actually matter that arises out of one sea of formless consciousness!
These extraordinary connections tell us that rather than being a remote, insignificant speck in a vast, empty, lifeless void, you are connected with the entirety of an extraordinarily complex, wondrous, and majestic One Life. As you are one with this One Life You Are the One Life.
You Are Eternal
You have always been, and you always will be. Before and during the 14 billion year history of the universe, during and after the unimaginably vast future of the universe. You will never end.
As Eckhart Tolle says “Death is not the opposite of life – life has not opposite”. Realising You Are One with All That Is is the realisation that You can never die – that nothing can ever really die. The endless cycle of ‘life’ and ‘death’ is in actual fact simply the continual transformation of energy from one form to another. Every day billions of the cells within ‘your’ body ‘die’ before being recycled throughout the rest of creation. Every day billions of organisms – from the microscopic to the plants and animals we consume – ‘die’ to provide the proteins and sugars that become ‘your’ body, or to form new life forms elsewhere.
In the same way, the only reason ‘your’ body exists today is because of the cataclysmic ‘death’ of our own ancestral mother star some five billion years ago. We literally became the stardust that was the result of this colossal eruption. Likewise, it is the ‘death’ of our own sun and our own earth, which will enable the atoms that make up your body right now to continue the cycle of life and death through countless generations of stars and planets for trillions of years into the future!
From stardust you were born, and to stardust you shall return!
Modern science tells us:
- That the DNA in your body right now is part of one living organism which became ‘life on earth’ and which has existed for more than 3.5 billion years.
- That every atom in your body right now was formed in the death of our mother star five billion years ago
- That every subatomic particle that creates every atom of your body right now was formed in the milliseconds following the Big Bang almost 14 billion years ago.
- That every speck of matter that is in your body right now will exist in some form for at least ten thousand trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion years!
- That regardless of the enormous scale of time that exists in the universe, time itself is actually an illusion! That everything that has ever happened or ever will happen, is in fact happening in this one eternally present Now moment!
Theoretical physics then suggests a whole range of baffling possibilities as to the eventual fate (and ‘previous lives’) of our universe. From “Big Bounce” to “Big Rip” to “False Vacuums”, “Many Worlds”, and various other multiverse theories, what these scientists all agree on, is that eternity is eternity! That the law of conservation of energy holds true for all of creation – that the infinite field of pure potential energy that we are cannot ever be created or destroyed, but can only ever change form. Science provides confirmation of the concepts of reincarnation and eternal life – we are reincarnated and reborn not once or twice, but an infinite number of times, through an infinite number of manifestations of the One Life that We Are, and which can never end.
You Are God
If there is a concept of God that can either be proved or disproved then that concept is not God. God is the sum reality of all that is – whatever that is – and therefore the only reality. That reality is incontestable. Being one with all there is You are not a part of that reality - that reality is You!
So now we get controversial, or perhaps just plain reckless. Few things have elicited stronger opposition throughout history than challenging an individual’s image of God. But the word ‘God’ has been the most misused and misinterpreted word in history. When our distant ancestors first developed the miracle of language, they looked for a word to describe the mystery, wonderment, and awe of the extraordinary creation that surrounded them. Today we call that reality the universe, or most recently the cosmos. They called it God. The first utterance of the word God did not refer to a big old man with a long grey beard up in the clouds. It meant in fact the complete opposite - the Allness, the Isness, the Oneness of All That Is - that which is seen and which cannot be seen, which is known and cannot be known - the physical world and whatever might be beyond it.
God is All That Is. You Are All That Is. And so You Are God.
But however unintended, the first utterance of the word God was the initial confinement of the Infinite into a grossly limited mental construct. The birth of language was in effect the birth of 'God' the idea. The Infinite, Eternal and Indescribable Ultimate Reality was for the first time put into a box. Over time more and more boxes would appear, with each becoming smaller and smaller over time. Like the fable of the blind men and the elephant, we began to argue over whose grotesquely inadequate image of All That Is was correct. Eventually 'God' was to become so small that ‘he’ would not only take vengeance on ‘his’ own beloved children, but also according to many, who would expect us to do the same to one another.
Then science comes along and gives back just a fraction of our sight. We now see more of the elephant than we have ever been able to see before. And so more and more of us reject the testimony of the blind men who continue to cling to their own limited experiences of All That Is. Tragically however, in dismissing as absurd the fighting and the dogma of the blind men, many today say that the elephant does not exist at all! Of course this is just as blind.
A much larger number of us though know the elephant is the elephant, but long for a different story to the one we have heard so far. Fortunately, there is such as story. Today, our knowledge of the cosmos provides a sense of wonderment, mystery and awe so much greater than what even our distant ancestors could ever have imagined. As the elephant becomes more and more illuminated we see how extraordinarily massive it really is. But we also see how connected it is – how Whole it really is. And we realise that the more and more we see, how much more there is to Ultimate Reality that we will never be able to see. That in infinity and eternity, there is literally limitless potentiality.
Finally though we realise that our distant ancestors and modern day Indigenous societies, along with prophets, sages and mystics throughout history, had a different kind of vision all along. From Jesus to the Buddha, to Meister Eckhart & Ibn Arabi, to the growing number of modern-day mystics, an inner knowing and personal encounter with the divine revealed to them the truth that modern day science is finally pointing towards. Despite the deep ravines of space, time and culture that separate them, these truly enlightened masters have all seen and described the exact same thing. Namely and specifically: All is One, All is Good, All is Love, All is You, and All is God.
The New Story of Cosmology confirms what we have intuitively known all along. That whatever God is or is not, God is what God is. And as all that exists is One, then the One must be You, and the One must be God. You Are God. It can be no other way.
Most Importantly, You Are Me
As You are quite literally one with all that is, You are quite literally every ‘other’ person, every ‘other’ being, and every ‘other’ physical object on the living Earth and beyond. In realising this truth you realise that everything you do to ‘another’ you do to Yourself.
The more we experience a felt sense of Oneness with all that is; Oneness gradually takes over, becoming stronger than the ego – the little me. Over time, this develops a profound sense of peace, belonging, and purpose. But the true gift in realising You Are Infinite, Eternal, and God is not about how you feel, but is about how you act. The most important realisation here is that if You Are truly One with All That Is – if You Are One with the entire Cosmos and One with God – then You Are inescapably One with Me. You Are Me!
I Am my mother, my father, my sister, my neighbour, my work colleague, my doctor, the checkout clerk, and the stranger in the park. I Am the American, the African, and the Asian I see on TV. I Am the Christian, the Jew, the Muslim, the Hindu, and the Buddhist I have never met. I Am the person who attacks me in the street, the prisoner, the terrorist, the politician and the movie star. I Am quite literally the cripple, the refugee, the homeless man, and the child about to die of starvation. I Am my pet cat, the bird in the sky, the Sumatran tiger, and the blue whale, I am the daffodil, the plankton, the fig tree, the Amazon. I Am each and every person, and every creature that has ever lived or will ever live. I Am the river, the sky, the soil, and every other part of the environment that enables them to live. I Am You, and You are Me.
So apart from the incredible sense of belonging I get from experiencing my infinity, the incredible sense of peace I get from experiencing my eternity, and the incredible sense of power I get from experiencing my divinity, the experience of my unity with you gives me an incredible sense of purpose. It is in my own personal interest (both the tiny me and the real me) to care for you. Your wellness, your health, your experience of peace, of belonging, of love is my experience. When I offer you care, compassion, friendship, and aid I receive them myself. However, when I judge you, when I hit you, when I kill you, I am harming myself. When I ignore you, when I abandon you, or when I leave you to suffer I am neglecting myself. I experience each of these things on both the macro (the infinite me) and the micro (the tiny individual me) levels. This is the scientific realisation of the concept of karma. Not only must the tiny me experience whatever I put out into the cosmos because it has to come from me, but I also experience whatever I put out into the cosmos because I Am the cosmos – and every part of me (including the tiny me) feels everything!
The golden rule then, which instructs me to "treat others as I would like to be treated myself" becomes imperative. I now realise that how I treat others is how I Am treating myself! And this changes everything. This is the end of judgement, anger, and violence, and the birth of acceptance, understanding, forgiveness, and deep love, compassion, and concern. If we could all remember this everyday we would live in a world of profound peace and harmony.

For many years more and more people have become disillusioned, or have completely rejected the traditional story of religion. But at the same time, the New Story of Cosmology has continued to rediscover the ancient truths of every spiritual tradition, endorsing the claim that 'we are all one' – that we are Infinite, Eternal, God, and each other. Only now are we starting to put two and two together. This New Story of Cosmology is simply a re-telling of an ancient story, which is now backed by the religion of our day – science. This story might just be the one that can fill the spiritual void being created in an increasingly secular world.
