News from Turkey- Soma
Those the words of my friend and photgrapher Delizia Flaccavento on the events of Soma Turkey.

"All over Turkey people have been showing and keep showing their solidarity with the 301 miners (so far, the final number might be higher) who died in Soma.

Systematically, the peaceful protesters have been attacked by a more violent than ever police: rubber bullets shot at close range on people on the floor, tons of tear gas shot here and there with guerrilla tactics, hundreds of arbitrary arrests, water cannons used against old people and children have been common scenes in Istanbul and in many other cities, including Soma itself, over the past few days.

Three days ago, although I had given up going close to a protest taking place in Kadıkoy (on the Asian side of Istanbul) to avoid being exposed yet once again to tear gas, while I was in a crowded square at least 600 meters away from the area where the police was attacking a few protesters, I breathed so much gas that I lost my voice and I'm still not back to normal: not even in the worst Gezi Park protests days I had gone through such a thing."
