What Happens When the US Invades Countries But Never Leaves Them?

Abby Martin goes over the effect of prolonged US military presence in bases all over the world, highlighting the case of Okinawa, Japan, which has hosted over 60 years of US occupation and thousands of young troops who are almost immune from prosecution against crimes committed on the island.

At 00:12 we find out the US has over 900 US bases sprawling across 153 countries today.

So what does it cost an empire these days to occupy the planet? The Pentagon says it costs American tax-payers a mere 22 Billion a year, but more realistic estimates pin the number at 200 billion, or 2.1 trillion since 2002.
