Free To Be Me, Finding Acceptance After Third Degree Burn Injury

Sylvia Mac suffered third-degree burns as a child and spent most of her life trying to hide the extensive scars which cover her body. It took her almost 48 years to find self-acceptance and love her scars.

“It might have taken a lifetime to get here but it’s all been worth it to help others. We are all survivors and should be proud of our bodies and how amazing they are, regardless of the way they look."

After struggling to find a support group, Sylvia decided to create her own platform to raise awareness and support people who are living with hidden & visible differences, bodily & facial, “Love Disfigure” was born.
