The Sustainability of Self (2012)

What defines true sustainability? How can we begin to create sustainability in a world that has such vastly differing views on the subject? If we perceive our external world as "unsustainable" what does this suggest about our own internal landscape?

This film follows 2 filmmakers over the course of 2 years as they travel to Ethiopia and back searching for insight & guidance towards a deeper understanding of these questions and their answers.  The film begins in 2010, where the couple visit grassroots community based individuals and organizations working to advance social and environmental welfare in Ethiopia.  About midway through, the film shifts, and the filmmakers return home with new perspectives.  Looking for community based solutions that begin with the individual the filmmakers find themselves visiting permaculture sites and other community based land projects.
