Love and Capitalism is a short documentary shot on Super 16mm filmed in Spring of 2014. The goal for the project was to film portraits and interviews of working subjects in the high-income Gold Coast neighborhood and the working-class Pilsen neighborhood. By contrasting these two areas, cultures and groups of individuals, we explore the familiar Marxist ideas of materialism and class-consciousness while capturing the political atmosphere of a specific place and time.
