Harvest of Empire film screening

Tue, Aug 13, 2013 7pm to 10pm
4050 Pennsylvania Ave

The Cross Border Network presents the film "Harvest of Empire", the untold story of Latinos in America by Juan Gonzalez. The film will be showing at the Tivoli Theater at 7:00 pm on August 13th. "Based on the groundbreaking book by award-winning journalist and Democracy Now! Co-host Juan González, Harvest of Empire takes an unflinching look at the role that U.S. economic and military interests played in triggering an unprecedented wave of migration that is transforming our nation’s cultural and economic landscape." Proceeds from the event will support scholarships for human rights and election protection in the Honduras Presidential Election in November. The Cross Border Network is responding to widespread attacks on Honduras’s working people and their LGBTQ community who have been fighting for democracy since the 2009 military coup.
