How to Respond to Anger | Abraham Twerski

100%

"If our goal is to never get angry, that is probably unrealistic, and not even desirable. But if we can get angry less? Surely that's a worthy aim, because anger - if held on to - usually only poisons the self.

We shouldn't be averse to feeling anger sometimes, though. Anger, after all, is a teacher. It is telling us something valuable. If we listen to it, we can learn more deeply about ourselves and what matters to us. It is how we choose to respond to anger that matters most. Again, the answer seems to be, with kindness and self-care.

When we listen to what the anger is trying to tell us, when we look for the deeper needs beneath the surface, we can attend to those needs more directly." - Tim Hjersted
