Plastic recycling was a public relations scam invented to keep the plastics industry alive amid mounting political scrutiny. This shifted responsibility for their polluting, unsustainable products away from them and onto consumers while masking how broken the recycling solution always was. But recycling plastic doesn't work. We simply need to ban it, as many wise countries already have.
