Nigeria's Reading Revolution: The Story of Africa's Largest Literacy Project

Nigeria, like many countries, is facing a crisis in it's education system. Teacher morale is often very low, most pupils never have access to even the most basic of books and, consequently, many pupils leave school unable to read of write,

But this film is not the usual story. It is the story of hope.  Shot by EMMY and BAFTA award winning film-makers - Red Rebel Films - this documentary tells the story of how a tiny teacher training project for 6 government school teachers transformed into the largest literacy project in Africa. Over 100,000 government school teachers and 5 million children have now benefited from the Jolly Phonics project, thereby significantly improving their life chances. With literacy, anything is possible, and this film highlights the real difference that this makes in the lives of communities in Nigeria.
