There has been an increase in reports of hate crime in the United States recently and as such there is a need for everyone to know how to confront and disrupt them, while providing support and solidarity to the victims. We know that not everyone who voted for Trump holds the same racist and misogynistic views as he does, but his words and actions - validated by his election - have emboldened those who do. Now is the time to put your money where your mouth is; if you claim that you are not racist or sexist, it is your actions that will bear this out. Stand up to hate, stand alongside your brothers and sisters who are feeling vulnerable, silence is not an option.
