Disillusioned by a story of consumption and alienation, a newly-married couple are called to action. Carrying with them their unborn child, they embark on a year-long journey around the UK, in search of the seeds of an alternative story, and with it hope for the future.

Confronting the stark reality of our times, and the responsibility it calls forward in them, the film follows Pete and Lily on an intimate and life-changing journey as they discover a culture and people of land and place.

Featuring conversations with grassroots activists and leading voices of the UK ecological movement, including: Satish Kumar (editor of The Ecologist), Polly Higgins (ecocide lawyer), Bruce Parry (explorer), Martin Shaw (founder of School of Myth), Jewels Wingfield (ecofeminist), Mac Macartney (founder of Embercombe), Simon Fairlie (editor of The Land), Peter Owen Jones (clergyman, presenter), Glennie Kindred (author and artist), and the late Patrick Whitefield (permaculturist).

A Life Story tells a tale of both deep grief and inspired hope, unearthing the structures that perpetuate oppression and ecological destruction, whilst providing a soulful exploration of our humanity and our yearning to live in relationship to one another and the natural world.

Hi there.

I bet you've seen some great "films for action" that aren't in our library yet.

Why not add that documentary or video directly to our library? Half of our best content was added by members. Submissions just need to be non-fiction, embeddable (like from Youtube or Vimeo), and related to activism or changing the world in some way.

Here are some more tips on adding videos. We'd love you to become a regular contributor!

Cheers,
The Films For Action team
