The Great Transition, 2025-2050

100%

Part 1 of this 2 part short film explores one of humanity’s greatest challenges — the energy transition — and the bold choices that will define our future. The next 25 years will decide who leads and who is left behind.

The film imagines a future where the right decisions were made, offering a glimpse of what’s possible and why the energy transition is so important.

This vision isn’t a fantasy. It’s built on technologies and solutions that already exist. It’s a vision made possible because everyone played a part - no single organization, industry, or country could do it alone.

In Part 2, we return to 2064, where the characters from Part I watch a documentary featuring leading energy experts and thought leaders at the forefront of the energy transition.

The documentary explores what it will take to realize the energy transition, focusing on three key themes:

1: Speed & scale – Explores the urgency of accelerating the shift to renewables, overhauling the transformation of the power grid, and the evolving, yet crucial, role of oil and gas in the transition.

2: Whole systems thinking – Highlights the need for a comprehensive approach and international collaboration in the energy transition.

3: Heroes of the transition – Celebrates individuals driving change, underscoring the importance of trust in science and institutions, and the power of collective action. Rooted in real technologies and solutions, this film highlights the path we are already on and what it will take for the energy transition to succeed. Transitioning to clean energy involves everyone.
