A group of street people in Austin, TX edit, write, and distribute their own newspaper as a way to help get them off the street. The Challenger Street Newspaper improves their lives by helping them to earn a living in an environment where job opportunities are virtually nonexistent, but it does much more than that. It gives them somewhere to belong: a community that transcends the homelessness around them.
This film, shot over the whole of 2015, was created to shine a light on the beautiful work that these people are doing everyday, and to show that all of us are the same, regardless of color, creed or economic background; that everyone has a story worth telling. We hope watching this film will enlighten you in the same way that creating it has enlightened us.
