The Indonesian Forest Communities ( 2014)

In Indonesia, in the center of Java Island, forest communities are making every effort to achieve sustainable development. Conscious that they live with timber, they organize themselves to ensure production chains with legal wood only. Cutting a tree can take hours : they carefully prepare the space around the tree to be cut to minimize the impact on the environment. They balance the cut trees with more planted trees. From Jogyjakarta to Jepara via Wonosobo, we have followed conscious forest communities that are supported by the EU to promote good forest governance. We met great people who do their work with respect, care and conscience.
