In the most unlikely union for an ex-farmer, Max became besotted with the endemic Leichardt's Grasshopper. With its beautiful flame orange body and deep glittering blue pronotum, it lives its entire annual life-cycle on just a single bush. His obsession was to set him on the path to revitalising the bush through fire management.
