Excerpts from You Are Infinite, You Are Eternal, You Are God: And more importantly, You Are Me
If you lived 200 years ago, and someone told you that one day you would be able to pull out a small hand-held device from your pocket and be able to access just about any piece of information that has ever been created, or just about any person on the face of the earth within seconds, you would have said they were barking mad. And yet, this is exactly the world that we all take completely for granted today.
Almost anywhere you go these days, the world around you is suffused with an extraordinarily complex web of invisible waves of electronic data. And at any time you like, you can pull out a smart phone or computer, and with a few clicks of a button you can tune in to any song, any video, any book, document, game, or countless other pieces of coherent data that are somehow constructed from this invisible web of zeros and ones. You need only to decide what data you want to pick out based on your own interests and situation. Gradually over time, your search engine will give you a running feed of suggested information based on your previous searches and online activity. Quite often, those annoying pop-ups will appear on your screen with random information you have no interest in whatsoever. And every now and then, you re-arrange some of the data that already exists in the form of words, sounds, and images, to create something ‘new’, which your device can then send back out into the ‘cloud’ to make this web of data even more complex.
‘Your’ mind works in exactly the same way. Your smart phone is nothing more than an incredible, yet extraordinarily basic, version of the phenomenal organising receiver that is your brain, and the World Wide Web is nothing more than an incredibly basic electronic version of the Global Human Mind. Or, extending much further still, of the Universal One Mind that is the Cosmos. Perhaps you have thought of this analogy before. Perhaps you haven’t. But either way, now we have it here on the table, doesn’t it make so much more sense than the idea of trillions upon trillions of separate, individual ‘consciousnesses’ somehow popping into and out of existence out of nowhere? Doesn’t it seem more plausible that there is One Consciousness that each ‘individual mind’ simply taps into to construct its own awareness of the world around it?
Science tells us that the whole of creation is One inextricably interconnected, and indivisible Whole. Science confirms that we are literally all one. And so, in the same way that strings of energy continually flow throughout the entire entangled fabric of spacetime, so too does Mind flow through the entire field of energy / matter / consciousness that is the cosmos. The same energy that manifests itself as the physical matter of the universe also manifests itself as the zeros and ones that generate every electronic image and sound that exists on the internet. And this same energy, that is the consciousness of the cosmos, infuses the whole of creation (You), in the same way ‘the cloud’ suffuses our atmosphere. The antenna of your individual smart phone is able to detect the data of the cloud in the same way the billions of sense receptors that form your nervous system tune in to cosmic consciousness. Your brain then, rather than being the source of consciousness, acts like your phone’s central processing unit – deciding which information is relevant to your survival at any given time. Your brain simply manipulates that data to produce your picture of the world and determine your physical response, before sending your own thoughts and actions back into the global consciousness that surrounds you, adding to the detail and complexity of the One Mind.
The illusion of your ‘individual’ human mind is therefore nothing more than an ingenious evolutionary development to help promote the survival of your ‘individual’ human body, and therefore to promote the development of a continually more complex and extraordinary universe. Just as a computer screen that attempted to display the entire content of the internet at once would be dysfunctional, so too would be the brain of a human that simultaneously attempted to display the entirety of cosmic consciousness. What you see as ‘you’ therefore, is usually nothing more than the immensely minute (while breathtakingly extraordinary) image of your body’s immediate surroundings, as observed by its five-pronged sense receptors, in much the same way that your smartphone displays a tiny portion of the ‘the cloud’ of all available data that exists as the World Wide Web.
But you are not your smartphone – you are the cloud. You are not one set of eyes contributing to the Cosmic Consciousness. You are Cosmic Consciousness, witnessing yourself through trillions of sets of eyes, trillions of ears, trillions of noses, hands, feet, paws, tongues and hearts (and that is just here on earth!). You are not your mind; You Are The Mind. You are not your soul; You Are The Soul. Every individual ‘part’ of creation is simply a temporary manifestation arising out of this One Whole, before transforming, recycling or regurgitating back into some other form/s. It may last a millisecond, an hour, 86 years, or 100 billion years, but however long each manifestation may last, in the cosmic scheme of eternity, they are all but a flicker. To see even a fraction more of the big picture than our previous frame point of reality is to reveal just how impermanent, how transitory is each and every form that the Cosmos may take on. It is to see how fleeting, how fluid, is the journey of each body, mind or soul through the One Body, One Mind, and One Soul. In this light, it seems to me to be much harder to see your individual body or mind as being you, than it is to see that there is only One, and that that One is You. The more we become aware of this, the more we begin to actually see the One Mind through the eyes of the One Mind, or ‘the Big Me’ through the eyes of the Big Me. And the more we do this, the more we are able to love.
So to sum up what this all means:
Put simply, if You Are Infinite, if You Are Eternal, if You Are God, if You Are one with All That Is, then quite simply You Are Me! You Are everyone, and everything. You Are your mother, your father, your sister, your brother, your neighbour, your work colleague, your doctor, the checkout clerk, and the stranger in the park. You Are the American, the African, and the Asian, the Christian, the Jew, the Muslim, the Hindu, and the Buddhist. You Are the person who attacks you in the street, the prisoner, the terrorist, the politician and the movie star; You Are quite literally the cripple, the refugee, the homeless man, and the child about to die of starvation. You Are your pet cat, the bird in the sky, the Sumatran tiger, and the blue whale. You Are the daffodil, the plankton, the fig tree, the Amazon. You Are the river, the sky, the soil, and every other part of the environment that enables them to grow. You Are quite literally every being that has ever lived, and who will ever live. I Am You, and You Are Me.
So apart from the incredible sense of belonging I get from experiencing my infinity, the incredible sense of peace I get from experiencing my eternity, and the incredible sense of power I get from experiencing my divinity, the experience of my unity with you gives me an incredible sense of purpose. It is in my own personal interest (both the tiny me and the Big Me) to care for you. Your wellness, your health, your experience of peace, of belonging, and of love is my experience. When I offer you care, compassion, friendship, and aid, I receive them myself. However, when I judge you, when I hit you, when I kill you, I am harming myself. When I ignore you, when I abandon you, or when I leave you to suffer I am neglecting myself. And I experience each of these things on both the macro (the infinite me) and the micro (the tiny individual me) levels.
YOU ARE TRUMP. Realizing this fills you with overwhelming compassion for Trump. And it is only through compassion for all that we generate effective action – action that works. To overcome what Trump stands for we must love Trump, and to love Trump we must see that we are Trump. So resist, march, shout, and write, but do it with love. Do it to yourself, and we will make a difference.
