In a joint meeting with Trump and El Salvador’s president, Nayib Bukele, both men refused to release an innocent immigrant, Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, from CECOT, a notorious Salvadoran prison. Both Bukele and members of Trump’s administration claimed they don’t have the power to release him. This meeting happened after the Supreme Court—in a rare 9-0 decision—upheld a District Court ruling that ordered Trump to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s return. But it gets worse; we learned that Trump is planning to send American citizens to gulags in El Salvador in a major escalation of his attack on the U.S. Constitution.
