The Luckiest - Short Film

This dystopian science fiction short film depicts a morning of a young man in an exaggerated version of our world ruled by consumerism, technology and corporations. His decisions and actions are manipulated by an audio device, that is not just a virtual assistant, but the voice of the system that controls society by imposing consumerist behavior, excessive use of social media and blind obedience to corporate employers.

We are told that we are privileged to live in comfort and possess all those material values, however everything comes at a cost. Factory workers are forced to work in unbearable conditions in order to meet the demands of the greedy buyers. We are also told that we live in a free society. But are we actually free or are we given all the pleasures and distractions to blindly obey the system without questioning it? “Give me television and hamburgers, but don’t bother me with the responsibilities of liberty” (Aldous Huxley, Brave New World Revisited)
