Katie Taylor, a Hollywood casting director, leaves her career behind in order to teach filmmaking to the youth of an impoverished South African community. Originally intending solely to equip them with employment opportunities, she quickly discovers the therapeutic impact on her students as they process life events through their films. Despite the community at first being resistant towards art and film, the school expands to a second community and an additional college level program. The students find themselves bridging cultural barriers as they become united through filmmaking.
