An analysis of 14 years of FBI statistics shows that gay people are the most targeted minority. Gays are almost twice as likely to be attacked in a violent hate crime as Jews or African Americans, and almost four times as much as Muslims. Columnist Dan Savage, of the "It Gets Better Project" sayst that a first step to solving this problem is for news organizations to keep bigots off the air. Savage points out that networks often invite leaders of gay hate groups on the air and inadvertantly legitimize their cause in the show's attempt to be "objective".
