"We are marching here today to celebrate love. When I think about love, I think about my wife, I think about my dear friends, from all different cultures, creeds, sexual orientation, gender identity, races, ages… I think about all my brothers and sisters whose struggles we are allies with. Whom I never met.
Women, immigrants, people of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQI members, and animals. Yes, let’s not forget that non-human animals too, are a part of a system of violence and oppression called speciesism. Speciesism is the assumption that non-human animals are inferior to human animals based on species alone. Many times, I was told I was inferior because of my sexual orientation, I was told I was inferior because I am a woman and I was told I was inferior because I am an immigrant.
Just like animals I too know what it is to be discriminated against because of who I am and I imagine many of you present here today have experienced similar systemic oppression. It is in that struggle that we are all allies with animals. Animals deserve our equal right and consideration. Animals individuals who love feel. So please, join us in celebrating love and letting all animals live.”
