As time runs out for the Tarkine (Tasmania, Australia), an aerial cinematographer tries to capture images of the wild and unique unprotected great wilderness.
The Tarkine Wilderness is home to over 100 endangered species including being the last stronghold of disease free populations of the iconic Tasmanian Devil. The Tarkine has the largest cool temperate rainforest in Australia. There are plans for continued logging and nine open cut mines.
Earlier this year Robin Kover from Sydney Film School accompanied the crew of documentary production Battle for the Tarkine. His film ‘From Above’ – The challenges of aerial cinematography in Tasmania’s Tarkine Wilderness (Winner FILMINK Magazine Online Audience Award) is now available for viewing for a limited time as part of the 21st Sydney Film School Festival.
