On the edge of Lake Atitlan, in the small pueblo of San Juan la Laguna, Solola, Guatemala, tourists can visit the local cooperative of guides - Rupalaj K'istalin - to make an appointment to take part in a Mayan tree planting ceremony that is both a show of helping the earth, and one small way to help offset the carbon emissions of flying to Guatemala.
