Sierra Leon is a small countryon the coast of West Africa. Like many other African countries, its land is rich in natural resources, which have been exploited by foreign corporations since colonial times.During the 1980's survival became even more difficult for the people of Sierra Leon. A group called the RUF (Revolutionary United Front) took up arms in order to re-vamp the imsystem and redistribute the country's wealth. Soon thereafter, the RUF established an alliance with the SLA Sierra Leon Army via it's poltical branch, AFRC. They had fought a 10-year civil war to take back control of the country's riches from foreign powers
