You may have heard of the Religious Right, yet the Left is just as religious. Both faithfully do worship- not Christianity, however, but today's Cult of Profits. 'Representatives' serve that, not us. Their tiny governmental salary is a mere pittance compared to the millions politicians make easily through lobbyists, trading on favors, and for their revolving door corporate employment. We are laughably outbid.
Modern politicians seem fake for a very simple reason- they are. Nowadays every speech is focus-grouped, targeting specific key demographics, using meaningless feel-good words designed to sway the masses without reason, without honesty- just a pair of lawyers in pricey suits and plastic smiles. A bad version of Hollywood paid for by everyone rich enough to invest in rigging their legislative futures.
That's the real game, their real job- a public relations consortium, rewarded for keeping We The People in line while still working against the majority best interests. Our mistake is in thinking We are their clients, when we are merely resources being managed. The only ones actually losing any elections are We the People- repeatedly- while the rich keep consolidating all wealth and power to entrench control.
America has no actual democracy; that claim is just as disingenuous as everything else advertised these days. We are pawns for elite oligarchs, fodder for their endless wars, and captive work drones to keep distracted and indoctrinated. They aren't dumb by 'losing' an election, merely unethical in portraying it as such; any corporation cuts losses and changes management to keep their successful business going. Believing in ethical motivations or any representative idealism has become our baseless, continuously disproven national religion.
Neither the Cowboys nor the Patriots give a shit about you or me, except as paying supporters who feel some false affinity to their sponsored branding. Political parties today are run using similar team sport tactics by the exact same class of people; both keep on repeating profitable media-run cycles so we can all take turns cheering or despairing whatever distracts us from daily reality and genuinely worsening issues.
We are a nation of brainwashed dupes, trained to unquestioningly receive all our marching orders through obviously untrustworthy hierarchies very few respect, or are served by anymore. Our government and majority population's goals no longer align; the very last thing any successful politician would do is become a broke, blacklisted martyr for the lower class' quest of unprofitable moral democratic justice.
Until the 1%-cabal-run rigged duopoly is replaced with a legitimate form of democracy, we're being taxed without representation, no different than under British rule. Until there's separation of money and politics, our collective conscience will be deemed too unprofitable for corporate legislation. This isn't rocket science or a conspiracy; today's pay-to-play legal-bribery political system makes money our new God.
Our for-profit, non-representative, pro-war government is held by an insulated elite class using normalized wage slavery to hoard all wealth and power; this qualifies us easily as victims of domestic terrorism. Which makes the now legalized use of state propaganda, nationalism, and death of net neutrality recall Germany's infamous decent into fascism. And adds another layer of hypocrisy to our "War on Terror".
Perhaps now you understand why much of the world fears our American Taliban- yes, even more than those who dare to challenge it.
