Brokering News - Media, Money and Middlemen (2011) (trailer)

While the Indian media is a significant part of Indian democracy, there is an increasing public disenchantment towards it, not just with its shrillness, sermonising and sensationalism, but with its core value - integrity. This documentary uncovers some of the darkest truths about what happens behind the scenes in large media houses running 24x7 television news channels. The action one can take after watching this film is to stop watching/trusting news on mass media and look for more public voices on the social media.

Directed by Umesh Aggarwal 54 min. | 2011 Official Selection, International Section, Mumbai International Film Festival, 2012

Produced by PSBT - a non-governmental, not-for-profit trust with the mission to create and sustain a credible space for public service broadcasting in India which is independent, participatory, pluralistic and democratic, distanced from commercial imperatives and state/ political pressures.
