A New Story for Humanity (trailer)

4.8 ·
8

The film was inspired by the New Story Summit at the Findhorn Foundation: a sold-out multicultural, multigenerational enquiry into a new story for humanity, attended by change makers and activists from over 50 countries. A number of professional filmmakers gifted their skills during the summit and conducted a series of interviews with key speakers, each carrying a thread of the new story.

This feature length film brings together excerpts from some of these inspiring interviews, along with key moments from the summit itself. It is intended as a tool to inspire and inform, to foster further enquiry, and to serve as a call to action in service to a better world.

The film is a beautifully and sensitively woven tapestry of the rich diversity that is the human family. Featuring live event coverage and interviews on the essential topics of our time: from cosmology to ecology, from ancient wisdom to current thinking, from leadership to governance, from economy to social justice, from education to initiation, from community to sustainability.

Captured through the lens of both our frailty and our wisdom, our pain and our joy, this enquiry into a new story for humanity offers a gateway into the evolutionary consciousness that will propel us as a species to recognise and embody our interdependence in harmony with the planet and in partnership with all life.

The Film as Our Gift to You

The film has been produced entirely on the basis of gift economy, as was the summit itself, and is being offered online as our gift to you. A labour of love, the production of the film would not have been possible were it not for the generous gifting of summiteers. We are deeply appreciative of the talents, skills, abilities, creativity, wisdom, open-heartedness and love of all those who contributed. We are also grateful for the presence of all those who attended the summit and for their ongoing work in the world in accelerating a new story for humanity to live into.

Premiering at Findhorn’s Universal Hall with Live Web Streaming

In honour all those who made the film possible, we invite you to participate in our Live Premiere, the date of which will be announced shortly.

The film will premiere here at Findhorn in the Universal Hall, the home of the summit, and be live streamed around the world. The intent is that we come together wherever we are on the planet to view the film as a global family of change makers. Over 50 countries were represented at the summit and we’d love to know that you are each tuning in, all over the globe, to watch the film with us and join in our post-film discussion.

Films For Action is a community-powered, digital library for people who want to change the world.

Our mission is to provide citizens with the knowledge and perspectives essential to creating a more beautiful, just, sustainable, and democratic society.

Films For Action was founded in 2006 by a few friends in Lawrence, Kansas, after realizing how essential a healthy media is to a healthy democracy.

Although we started out hosting community film screenings in the beginning and did so for many years, our digital library eventually became our primary focus.

Today, with the help of our members (who can add content directly to our site), we've curated over 5,000 of the best documentaries, short films, and videos that can be watched for free online plus several dozen pay-per-view documentaries, sorted into 34 subjects related to changing the world.

And, since there's still so much to learn about that isn't featured in a film, we've also curated 4,000 articles.

To dive in, click the Explore button to sort content by most viewedtop-rated, or newest first, as well as filter content by languagecountry, content type, and 34 topics such as foodsustainabilityeconomicssolutions or big ideas.

“Independent media is dangerous because it allows people to speak for themselves. And when you hear someone speaking from their own experience - whether it's a Palestinian child or an Israeli grandmother or an uncle in Afghanistan or a refugee in the Calais refugee camp - it changes you. It breaks the sound barrier. It challenges the stereotypes and the caricatures that fuel the hate groups. You may not agree with what you hear - I mean, how often do we even agree with our family members? - but you begin to understand where they're coming from. That understanding is the beginning of peace. I really do think that the media can be the greatest force for peace on Earth. Instead, all too often, it is wielded as a weapon of war. We have to take the media back.” - Amy Goodman, Place to B at COP21
