PROTESTIVAL IS GO!!
We're looking forward to a fun day in the park, with frisbee, music, food and drinks!
BUT
this is also an event to engage the local community with activism, and offer solutions to some things that we feel are problematic within society. If not solutions, at least ways to turn any negative feelings you may have into a force for change! Only positive vibes at Protestival smile emoticon
Now is the time to spread the word, tell your friends, get them to tell their friends! If everyone could bring some picnic stuff and beers or your preferred drink, that'd be fab
The whole thing will be free (or donations based), so I'm going to need just a little assistance, in the form of volunteers and musicians. The roles that will need taking on will look something like this: - Assistant Organizers: Helping me rally activist groups both in Bath and in the rest of the country, recruiting musicians who are keen to play an acoustic gig in a park to get some recognition and have a fun day (obviously!), sorting things like flyers, gazebos, blankets, bunting, BBQs, fun festival stuff like face paint, etc - Volunteers: Assisting the organization process. Musicians - Activist groups who would like to be involved and engage with all kinds of people, and getting the chance to spread their message. - Artists/ Designers: To create bunting, posters (maybe), flyers, a logo, that kind of thing. Potentially festival clothing. - Business Thinkers: To help with the technical side of things. I'm also thinking of setting up a Protestival 2.0 as my dissertation project next year, so this would be a really helpful event for me in terms of getting a little practice in before the 'main event', gaining momentum and hopefully support. This could mean having a fully fledged, fully amplified, crowdfunded mini-fest on our hands come 2016! This is very much a community project, so by all means, please share any ideas/thoughts/feelings/worries! Much love!
