We are planning an all-day crop mob and pot luck on Saturday, April 30.

Our project is to begin planting a food forest at Maryam Hjersted's Prairie Lovesong Farm in Linwood, KS about 8 miles east of Lawrence.  We have about 60 fruit and nut trees we want to plant on the berms of three large swales that we constructed last summer.

The plan for the day begins at 9:30 am with tea & coffee, introductions and a general overview of the project. We will plant until noon and then break for a pot-luck lunch.  At 1 pm we will demonstrate how to hold water and fertility on the landscape by constructing swales.  We will demonstrate marking contours and the layout for planting a food forest.  We will then continue to plant trees until about 4:30 pm.

Please join us for a exciting hands-on day of fun in the sun in a glorious garden.  If you would like to attend, please RSVP and we will send directions and more details for the event.  To sign up (It is free), please contact Steve Moring ([email protected]) or Maryam Hjersted ([email protected]).
