Bristol-produced documentary The Fourth Estate comes to it's hometown, with intro and Q&A by the filmmakers.
In the wake of the Leveson Inquiry we have seen attention focused on the media as never before, yet phone hacking is only the tip of the iceberg and celebrities are not the only victims of media power. The Fourth Estate unravels the ways in which business and politics have conspired to dominate the mediascape, forcing out ordinary working people, and transforming media from instruments of democracy to instruments of domination.
Using interviews with media scholars, journalists and activists, The Fourth Estate exposes the history, business, politics and propaganda in which our media is now enmeshed, and considers our options for change, resistance and reform.
