A great opportunity to discuss elections and voting brought to you by the Bristol anarchist bookfair collective and Bristol anarchist federation. 7pm, Wednesdays 11 March. At Kebele Social Centre, 14 Robertson Rd, Easton, Bristol BS5 6JY. All welcome.
The first discussion too placew on Feb 27th and looked at: if, why, and how anarchists should intervene in elections.
This discussion will look at responding to the most common and tricky questions put to us, after all ‘if you don’t vote you can’t complain’ right?
The talk is open to anyone, whether you think we should burn our ballots or run for parliament! Like any good debate everyone should come away with something new to think about and possibly some plans for action/intervention.
Worth reading in the context of voting or not, and also in the context of the anti-austerity election victory by Syriza in Greece, is the following article written the day after the Syriza win by the Irish WSM. Pay particular attention to its conclusion, AND what is happening to Greece and to Syriza right now as capital and the Troika (EU, ECB, IMF) turn up the heat:
