All of the films below are available to watch online. Let's share them with the world!
Documentaries offer us a powerful tool to raise awareness and inspire action. By watching and sharing them online, they give us a simple and potent way to break our dependence on the mainstream media and become the media ourselves.
Just imagine what could become possible if an entire city had seen just one of the documentaries below. Just imagine what would be possible if a majority of conservatives turned off FOX News and a majority of progressives stopped watching MSNBC and started turning to independent sources that aren't beholden to corporate or government influence?
The truth is, creating a better world really does start with an informed citizenry, and there's lots of subject matter to cover. From economics to politics to education to war & peace, there are powerful documentaries that explore vitally important issues that the mass media (whether left or right leaning) rarely do justice.
About eighteen years ago, watching The Corporation inspired us - a few friends from Lawrence, KS - to launch Films For Action and “be the media” in our home town. We hosted dozens of film screenings, launched this website, and over the years, millions of people started coming here to watch “films for action,” all thanks to people like you sharing films on social media. That's it. No need to spend truck loads of cash on advertising or raise millions to buy our own news network.
So long as the internet remains free and open, people sharing quality indy media online can change the world, because quality knowledge leads to quality action, and more people getting involved in smart ways is exactly what we need to push against the tides of the status quo. The more all of us can “become the media” - just a little every week, the faster this transition will get rolling!
So take this library of films and use it. Watch and share these films with friends, forward them to elected officials, community leaders and school faculty. Host film screenings. Share them with your co-workers or your boss! Get this information out in to your community and you will be laying the foundation for a local movement of engaged citizens inspired to improve the world in 10,000 different ways.
