Highlighted Sponsor of the Day:
Laguna Farm, Sebastopol, CA www.lagunafarm.com
This community supported agriculture farm of 500 members in Sebastopol, CA with a small community of residents, supported us with a barn loft to stay in and an office to work at for the first 8 months of Within Reach's forming stages. We were there on and off, as we built the electric bike trailer, tried our hand at filming communities, and made short bike tours for training. This community had an amazing work trade program they set us up with for us to be able to launch this journey and we are forever in gratitude to them for their kindess, amazing veggies, wonderful potlucks, and lots of laughter.
Video of the Day:
Emerald Earth Community, Booneville, CA (the first community filmed by Within Reach...on a laptop webcam!)
Within Reach Movie Transcribed Footage Quote of the Day:
Makasha Roske, Hummingbird Community Co-founder, Mora, NM (this quote was filmed during our first visit to Hummingbird 2 years ago, while we were still living at Laguna Farm and visiting the FIC board meeting at Hummingbird....you will see from this quote why we ended up here!):
"Our come from is just to be guided and that's up to the great spirit to do what it does but we're just part of that movement. People say well let's heal the earth. Well we're just part of that which is being healed through the process. So it's a different come from in terms of thinking egoicly we can go out and save the earth. It's let's go with our guidance, go to where we're called, let's give our energy, make our committment, and dedicate ourselves in service to future generations, which is essential for any kind of stability to happen or any teaching to be transmitted in a new way.
We've called it "the only way out is in"" so it's "inside out". You know it's like we gotta do the inner work everything will change on the outer based on our experience if we change the inner. Yeah."
Production Stills Photo of the Day (thumbnail at top of article on FIlms for Action site):
Ryan and Mandy's old friend Jes Karper (www.jeskarper.org) playing "Try on Life" for us (while Ryan films) after we synchronously ran into him on interstate 10 in Arizona on the Within Reach Journey (he was on his way back to Belize). Mandy and Ryan met him in Belize on their trip to Central America when they first met in 1999. They used this song in their first short promo trailer 1 year before they ran into him here, being the first time they had seen him in almost a decade. Look out for this in the movie...quite an amazing experience! And one that really embodies the miracles of life on the passion filled road.
